Launching a New Scholarship Fund

Annually, orphans graduate from Huruma Dolor Faith Secondary School in Kenya.  Upon completion, some of the orphans go back to their family clans or to their villages of birth. Even with the blessing of a secondary education, life can be very uncertain. The Hope and Service Scholarship provides worthy orphan graduates with the opportunity to further their education through technical training or a college diploma.

Applicant and guardian sign the scholarship contract.

This scholarship brings hope to the recipients as the doors of opportunity are opened that have otherwise remained shut. A meaningful, marketable skill will enable the student to return to Huruma and serve at the children’s orphanage and give back to the orphanage that has given so freely to him/her.

Two or three orphaned or vulnerable young adults who have excelled academically and are of good character are chosen yearly to receive the scholarship. The scholarship will fund students for 1-3 years of education. The graduate will then return to Huruma and serve in a fitting capacity based upon their skills and education. They may serve in an administrative, social, electrical, mechanical, agricultural or educational capacity.

Currently about 15 students are enrolled in post-secondary school programs. Projected yearly costs per student are $2000. Donations of any amount may be made to the Hope & Service Scholarship Fund. 100% of contributions are used for the education and personal upkeep of the recipient. The students are only able to begin a program and to stay in the program as funds are available through this Scholarship.
