Strong Storms Damage Huruma Orphanage

On Saturday, October 23rd a destructive storm hit Huruma. Heavy rains and winds lasted for two hours and brought destructive hail unlike any they had seen before. It collected like snow in some areas and damaged roofs as well as removed some of the paint from the outsides of the buildings. The girls dorm ceiling and roof were damaged and windows broken letting in a lot of water. Trees were uprooted. One fell on the main office building and another fell on the chicken house damaging both roofs.

Bro. Peter said he was thankful for the brethren that constructed the office with metal or the damage would have been much worse. The sugar cane (cash crop) really took a beating. After the storm, they are taking inventory of all the repairs that need to be made. Here are a few things we have found:
